Expected growth of 15-20 % for cherry exports

For the 2015-16 season cherry exports are expected to increase by 15 % to 20 % according to ASOEX forecasts, the fruit exporters Association.
Many factors will still come into play, but the final volume is expected to reach 120 000 tonnes , about 15-20 % more compared to 2014-15 . Last year 103,079 tons were exported , a volume 50.01% higher than that recorded in 2013-14 with 68,544 tons shipped .
Since Chile began the exports of cherries, volumes has increased every year. The production and quality levels also increase to meet the requirements of target markets . Currently , Asia is the main market , with over 80 % of volumes and China is the No. 1 destination .
