The volume of avocado exports has decreased

In Peru avocado exports decreased in volume. After a record volume of exports recorded in the 2018 campaign, this year's volume is much lower.

 

 

 

According to ProHass figures (Asociacion de Productores de Palta Hass del Perú) the country exported 285,000 tons of avocados during this year's campaign. For the 2018 campaign, the volume exported reached 338,000 tonnes of avocados.

 

 

 

This decline is explained by the natural alternation, after a very productive year, the trees do not produce as much and the yields decrease.

 

 

 

However, this decline in volumes was offset by higher prices, resulting from lower production in several countries. In South Africa, production has fallen by 40% and in the United States by 50%.

 

 

 

 

Peru's avocado exports were mainly to Europe (57%) and the United States (30%).
