Sainsbury's December sales up 2.0 percent

British retailer Sainsbury has announced that December sales in the UK were up by 2 percent on the same period last year.
On a like-for-like basis, third quarter sales were up by 0.1 percent.
The company said that overall sales were impacted by the effects of the Business Transformation Programme which is scheduled to be completed by the summer of 2004.
