Expected increase in European production of apples and pears will benefit the industry, the total supply of fresh market will be similar to the last year according to the experts.
Crops in 2013 are estimated to increase in the European continent.
During Prognosfruit held in Prague from August 8 to 10, an estimate of harvests was presented. 2013 production in Europe should increase by +7% for apples and +18% for pears.
Pear production 2013 should reach 2.236 million tonnes, an increase of 18% compared to 2012 and a decrease of 2% compared to the average of the last three years. Italian production will be up by 14%, Spanish production by +10%, Dutch production by +34%, French production by +23% .
