China to quadruple production by 2024

In China, demand for durian continues to grow, and the main suppliers to the Chinese market (Thailand, Vietnam) continue to increase volumes shipped.

 

According to local media reports, China is set to quadruple its local production of durian this year. Originating from the tropical island of Hainan and due to be available in July, this local Chinese production is expected to quadruple to 200 tons this year.

 

The tropical island of Hainan is the only region in China with a climate suitable for growing tropical fruit. Typhoon damage had limited production to around 50 tons.
