China has doubled its aid to African countries with a credit line of USD 20 billion.
China, which became the largest trading partner with Africa, has increased its aid with USD 20 billion to promote infrastructure development, agriculture, manufacturing and SMEs. The announcement was made at the 5th Ministerial Conference on China-Africa (FOCAC) held in Beijing.
China has doubled its aid, which amounted to $10 billion in loans in 2009. Chinese direct investment has grown by 60% since
2009 to reach $14.7 billion in late 2011. More than 2,000 Chinese companies have invested in Africa. The China-Africa trade last year reached $166.3 billion, up 83% over 2009.
The number of agricultural technology demonstration centers in Africa will be increased to help African countries strengthen their agricultural production capacity.
