During the digital event "Les Mardis de medFEL", organized by the medFEL trade fair, Europêch' experts estimated the European harvest (Spain, Italy, Greece, France) for this year at nearly 2.9 million tons.
According to these estimates, production of peaches, flat peaches and nectarines in 2022 should reach 2,267,097 tonnes, i.e. +15% compared to last year but -19% compared to the 2016/2020 average.
For pavia peaches, mainly intended for the processing industry, production in 2022 should reach 606,419 tonnes, i.e. -7% compared to last year and -21% compared to the 2016/2020 average.
This year, frost affected a few production basins at the end of March and the beginning of April, with limited damage in Greece, Italy and France. On the contrary, Spain, which had been relatively spared from the frost in 2021, was affected this year.
