In Turkey, it is becoming reality the search for new varieties of seedless lemons
The agricultural-experimental research station of Alata, in Southern Turkey, near Mersin, has successfully concluded its varietal research of seedless lemons, which began 7-8 years ago.
Three varieties of seedless lemons - "Mersin", "Uzun" and "Gülsen" - have been obtained from the "Kütdiken" variety. Once the registration process will be terminated, seedlings of these new varieties should be available to Turkish growers at the end of 2014.
Exporters of Turkish citrus believe that these varieties will be welcomed, in particular on the English and Polish markets.
