Bananas and vegetables top exports

Honduras agricultural exports account for 18.6% of international sales according to Senasa (Servicio Nacional de Sanidad e Inocuidad Agroalimentaria). Bananas and vegetables dominate the country's export ranking.

 

 

 

The country has recorded a significant increase in the share of agricultural exports in total exports. Last year foreign exchange earnings from agricultural exports totaled $815.4 million, up by $25.2 million from 2017.

 

 

 

Bananas are at the top of exports rankings with $531.9 million, an increase of $9.2 million despite a decrease of 1.2% of the volume shipped.

 

 

 

With respect to vegetables, foreign sales totaled $100.1 million, up by $5.8 million from the previous year and 7.3% in volume, mainly to the United States.

 

 

For melons and watermelons, exports reached $76 million, an increase of 6.4% due to improved prices.
