The exports of mangoes increased by 127 %

Introduced in Peru approximately 40 years ago, the mango is now a leader product in the export.
The Peruvian Association of the exporters of mangoes (APEM) announced that the volume of the exports for the season 2009-2010 reached 100.000 tons, which is a 127 % increase with regard to the previous season.
THE APEM indicates that 58 % of the exports were sent towards the European Union, and 37 % towards the United States.
"There were also exportations, less important, towards China, Japan, Chile, and New Zealand" added Juan Carlos Rivera, the Chief Executive Officer.
The main exporters: Sunshine in 10 %, Camposol in 6 %, FLP del Peru 6 % and Empacadora de Frutos Tropicales 5 %.
