Avocados, mandarins, and mangoes fuel Peru’s U.S. export growth

Continued diversification, innovation, and alignment with U.S. food safety standards are expected to further expand Peru’s presence in the North American fresh produce market.
In May 2025, Peru’s fresh fruit and vegetable exports to the United States recorded a significant boost, contributing to a broader trade increase with that market. Agricultural shipments were up by 33% year-on-year, according to the Ministry of Foreign Trade.
Key contributors to this growth included increased volumes of avocados, mandarins, and mangoes. These products remained in high demand across U.S. retail and food sectors.
Avocados and mandarins led the surge, supported by favourable harvest conditions and efficient supply chains. Mangoes also showed a solid performance, particularly toward the end of the U.S. import window.
Blueberries, the top fresh fruit exported from Peru to the U.S., saw a price recovery in April after a dip between November and March, helping stabilise overall export value.
Fresh produce remains one of the most competitive segments in Peru’s export portfolio, supported by sustained investment in quality and traceability.
