A " fog harvest" for water
FJ
The technique of "Reaping the fog" was born twenty years in Chile, in the Andes, and has already been tested in several countries (Guatemala, Peru, Namibia), it is for the 1st time being introduced to North Africa.
In Morocco, on Boutmezguida mountain (1225 m) which overlooks 5 villages in the region of Sidi Ifni, the project consists of 600 m² of sensors nets, 2 tanks of 500 m3, 1 wellbore 9000 m of pipes.
Tight panels trap the water droplets, which are then processed, mixed with well water and transported via pipelines to the villagers in low-cons.The goal now is to equip up the surrounding villages, and all the sites conducive the country. "Morocco has a lot of fog due to three factors: the presence of an anticyclone, the Azores, a cold sea current and the obstacle represented by the mountain," says the initiator of the project.
