Direct sale of peppers on the campus
FJ
To protest against the margins of intermediaries, farmers sold their products directly to university students.
This sale on campus, organized by the Student Union of the University of Tel Aviv, has enabled farmers in the Arava Faran region to sell nearly 8 tons of products. Directly, without intermediaries, protesting against margins of distributors and other wholesalers which are considered too high.
These farmers have proved to be paid only 1.40 shekels per kilo of peppers, while the distributors charge retailers 10 shekels per kilo on average. Producers emphasize that the prices currently charged do not cover the costs of production, harvesting becomes even useless.
The producers union has requested concerned departments to study the issue and examine the rate of profits made ??by some operators in the supply chain. Other direct sales are planned in the country to continue the protest.
