A plan to export fruit and vegetables to Saudi Arabia is being considered by the Iranian Ministry of Commerce.
The Iranian authorities are considering a proposal to open the door for exports to Saudi Arabia, a country that 700,000-800,000 Iranians visit every year, in order to boost the country's fruit supply and open new markets.
As one of the world's top ten fruit and vegetable producers, Iran would be in a position to export apples, tangerines, kiwifruit and oranges if the proposal gains state approval, local press reports claim.
"Fruit and vegetable export is being examined by the Ministry of Commerce," an Iranian official commented.
