Despite the decline, the season has begun with record-high fruit quality.
Chile's blueberry exports dropped 28% by week 47 compared to last year and were 14% below projections, according to the Chilean Blueberry Fruit Committee. However, recovery is expected as harvests intensify, aligning actual volumes with forecasts, stated executive director Andrés Armstrong.
Despite the decline, the season has begun with record-high fruit quality, driven by favorable weather that improved attributes despite slowing ripening. Armstrong highlighted that 63% of exports now come from new varieties
The committee remains focused on improving flavor profiles and expanding new varieties to strengthen industry competitiveness. Members are committed to quality and innovation, supporting the sector's growth, Armstrong added.
