Global garlic trade sees 1.5% decline in the first half of 2024

Indonesia leads garlic imports, while Thailand records the highest growth in 2024.
Global garlic imports in the first half of 2024 reached 741,829.9 tons, a decrease of 1.5% compared to the same period in 2023, according to Peruvian market analyst Heber Chavez.
During this time, Indonesia accounted for the largest share of imports, representing 25.9% of the global total, followed by Malaysia at 13.3%. The remaining 60.8% of imports were distributed among other countries.
Chavez also highlighted Brazil’s position as the third-largest garlic importer worldwide, noting a 23.6% increase in its imports compared to the previous year.
Thailand, however, experienced the most remarkable growth, with its garlic imports soaring by 215.7%, securing its place as the sixth-largest importer globally.
