In early November, Brazilian Tahiti lime prices declined due to the fruit's size and quality not meeting industry expectations, despite being in the offseason. According to Cepea, the mid-November average price was BRL 95.59 (approximately USD 16.49) per 27.2-kg box, a 16.17% decrease compared to late October. Previously, the average price stood at BRL 117.94 (around USD 20.35) per box, reflecting a notable increase from September and a 71% jump compared to October of the previous year.
Meanwhile, in the United States, Florida concluded its 2023/24 orange season in September. The state's Citrus Department reported low juice stock levels, similar to Brazil. The U.S. has largely become an orange juice importer, primarily due to the effects of greening on Florida's production, with Brazil serving as a major supplier. However, challenges in Brazil's orange industry, including supply shortages and pricing issues during the 2023/24 season, have likely hindered efforts to rebuild Florida's orange juice reserves.
