Import value rises by 28% in the first semester of 2025.

Azerbaijan brought in 536 tons of fresh and dried avocados worth $1.7 million in the first half of 2025, according to local media reports. The figure is up 28% in value and 13% in volume compared with the same period last year.

Peru remained the leading supplier, sending 253 tons valued at $837,000 — about 10% more by weight than in 2024. Imports from Tanzania and Kenya also grew sharply. Tanzania shipped 83 tons, while Kenya delivered 45 tons, both representing multi-fold increases. Morocco added 28.5 tons, also showing strong growth.

By contrast, imports from Türkiye fell steeply, down 62% in quantity and 63% in value, with just 54.5 tons worth $81,800 recorded.

In 2024, Azerbaijan’s avocado imports totalled 832 tons, with Türkiye providing nearly half and Peru about 38%. The new figures suggest a gradual shift toward more diverse sourcing, even as overall demand for avocados continues to rise.
