The first harvest is expected in early 2025.
According to Minister of Agriculture Limber Cruz, the Dominican Republic will begin exporting table grapes starting next April. This marks the introduction of high-quality grape varieties cultivated in five of the eleven regions identified as suitable for viticulture.
The first harvest is expected early next year, adding table grapes to the country's growing list of agricultural exports. The Dominican Republic already exports a wide range of fruits, including avocados, mangoes, bananas, citrus fruits, and chestnuts.
Its export portfolio also includes root crops and other products such as sweet potatoes, peppers, yuca, cocoa, coffee, and oriental vegetables. Minister Cruz also assured that the local market is well-prepared for the holiday season, with ample supplies of fruits and vegetables, guaranteeing no shortages.
