In Tunisia, production of Maltese oranges is expected to approach 100,000 tonnes, while exports of Maltese oranges should reach 15,000 tonnes. That's +114.29% compared with the 2022-23 season (Photo: gifruits).
In Tunisia, the 2023-24 citrus season is shaping up to be very satisfactory, with a 25% increase in volume and a probable 114% increase in the volume of Maltese oranges exported.
 
Local media are reporting that Maltese orange exports for the 2023-24 season began on 13 January. According to information from Gifruits (Groupement Interpofessionnel des Fruits), production of Maltese oranges should approach 100,000 tonnes, 30,000 tonnes more than the 2022-23 season. Maltese orange exports should reach 15,000 tonnes. This represents an increase of 114.29% on the 7,000 tonnes for the 2022-23 season.
 
The 1st crop estimates for the 2023/24 season were drawn up in November 2023 and forecast a citrus crop of 365,000 tonnes for the country as a whole. This represented an increase of 25.86% on the 2022/23 season.
