What to expect from Macfrut 2025?
Macfrut continues to strengthen its global position, with significant representation from Africa, Latin America, and Europe.
The 42nd edition of Macfrut, one of Europe’s key trade events for the fruit and vegetable industry, will take place from 6–8 May 2025 at the Rimini Expo Centre in Italy. More than just a trade fair, the event presents a full-year platform for global stakeholders across the fresh produce supply chain. This year's edition highlights "Healthy Food" as its central theme, underscoring the connection between nutrition and well-being, and will feature a dedicated arena with scientists, chefs, and well-known Italian figures, including Olympic champion Valentina Vezzali.
Macfrut 2025 will grow further in scope, with a 6% increase in exhibition space, over 1,400 exhibitors, and 1,500 top international buyers connecting through an advanced networking platform. International attendees will make up 40% of participants. A wide range of content is planned, including three international symposia focused on biotechnology, potatoes, and Mediterranean aromatic plants. The event will also feature Egypt as partner country and Lazio as partner region, along with over 100 scheduled events across the three days.
At the event's presentation, held at the ICE-Italian Trade Agency in Rome, government representatives, industry leaders, and experts highlighted the fair’s expanding international reach and its contribution to Italy’s agri-food sector. In 2024, Italian fruit and vegetable exports rose by 6.3%, reaching nearly €6.5 billion, placing Italy as Europe’s second-largest exporter after Spain. Consumption in Italy also grew, with spending up 2.2% for vegetables and 2.9% for fruit, according to ISMEA.
