Egypt: exports to Russia up 65% in 9 months

With fruit and vegetables making the most part of it, Egypt’s exports to Russia seem to have increased by 65% between January and September 2007, hitting 149 million US dollars compared to 90 million in the same period in 2006 according to a report by Egypt's trade office in Moscow. Egyptian ORANGE exports to Russia during the first nine months of 2007 totalled about 32.5 million US dollars - that is 22% of total exports - while GRAPES exports hit 6.4 million US dollars, or 4% of overall exports.
On the other hand, Egyptian imports from Russia rose by 34% between January and September 2007, hitting 1.2 billion US dollars against 930 millions in the same period of 2006. Most of the Egyptian imports were in the form of wheat, timber and iron.
