Peru to become leading exporter of fruits and vegetables

Peru recorded an average annual growth of 27% over 10 years and has the ability to become the largest worldwide exportor of fruits and vegetables.
With exports growing steadily, Peru could become the leading exportor of fruit and vegetables in the world.
The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (MINCETUR) says there is an average annual growth of 27% and between 2000 and 2011 exports of fruits and vegetables increased in value from 101 to 120 million dollars.
Destination markets have increased in the same period from 70 to over 130, meaning that Peru has managed to diversify well.
The minister Jose Luis Silva said th if exports continue to grow at this pace, Peru can become the largest exporter of fruits and vegetables in the world.
