The 2018 potato harvest estimated down by 18% for the 5 NEPG countries Germany, Belgium, France, Great Britain, the Netherlands).
The North-Western European Potato Growers (NEPG) estimates that the 2018 harvest of ware potatoes will be down by 18% from last year and 8% from the average of the last 5 years. And this despite an increase of surfaces of 8.4% since 5 years.

Extreme drought and scorching temperatures throughout north-western Europe led to a provisional estimate of average gross yield between 40 and 41 t / ha in the 5 main producing countries.

The harvest of the 5 countries will be clearly low, and the NEPG is tentatively estimating between 23.5 and 24.0 million tonnes. This is more than the 2012 harvest of 22.5 million tonnes, but at that time the demand was less than 15%.

There are uncertainties about quality and producers are worried about future conservation.
