Springtime concern for producers
United States

Mild temperatures have caused early growth and fruit trees are now under threat of frost.
Some regions in the United States are experiencing exceptionally mild temperatures - a concern for fruit growers.
Temperatures resembling summer in Virginia caused the flowering of peach trees several weeks early. Producers are concerned because a single night of frost could destroy everything.
In Michigan
and Wisconsin, the same situation. The exceptional weather in March accelerated growth and apple trees are budding, so a freeze could wipe out production. The concern is real, and producers say the region has never experienced a month of April without a frost, since temperature records began.
