Italy
Thursday 22 November 2007
A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the specialised trade fairs Macfrut of Cesena (Italy) and HortiEgypt of Cairo on November, 14 - during a seminar organised by Mediterranean Fruit Company (MFC) at the Intercontinental Citystars of Heliopolis (Cairo). Mauro Pernici, vice-president of the Italian trade fair Board, and the chairman of UPEHC (the Egyptian Union of Fruit and Vegetable Producers and Exporters) Osama Kheir El-Din, for the Egyptian trade fair signed the Memorandum. Representatives from the ministries of Agriculture of Italy and Egypt were also present during the event. “We agreed to increase business meetings among private enterprises of our Countries - explains Domenico Scarpellini, chairman of Cesena Fiera organizer of the Italian event - most of all during our exhibitions. Furthermore, we will both try to promote exhibitors’ participation to each trade fair, besides organizing delegations of professional visitors to the other Country’s fair”. The agreement aims at expanding economic relations among Mediterranean Countries, considering trade exhibitions the most apt mean to favour exchange of products, information and services. The most general target is to strengthen relations among the main fruit and vegetable sector trade fairs in order to build in a future a collaboration network. HortiEgypt trade fair will take place from 10 to 13 January 2008 in Cairo; Macfrut is scheduled on 17-19 April 2008.
