Growth of 13.8% in value and 26.7% in volume for Iranian exports

The negative impacts of the health crisis have obviously not affected Iranian fruit and vegetable exports, which have just recorded an increase of + 13.8% in value and + 26.7% in volume.
According to IRICA (Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration) data, in the first 7 months of the current Iranian year (March 20-October 21), exports of agricultural products reached $3.1 billion, or +13, 8% compared to the same period last year.
In terms of volumes, these exports represented 4.537 million tonnes, or + 26.7% compared to the same period last year.
During the previous Iranian year which ended on March 19, 2020, the country exported 7.1 million tons of agricultural and food products for a value reaching more than $5.8 billion. Over the same period, Iran imported more than 6.9 million tonnes of agricultural and food products worth around $6.4 billion.
In the previous Iranian year the top 5 products exported, in terms of volume, were watermelons, apples, tomatoes, potatoes, onions and shallots. In terms of value, the top 5 products exported were pistachios, apples, tomatoes, shelled pistachios, watermelons.
