In France, the ban on plastic packaging for fruit and vegetables was to come into force, depending on the products, from this year. But an appeal has been filed with the Council of State, which has just rendered its decision.
The Council of State, the highest administrative court in France, has canceled the decree implementing the Agec law concerning the sale of fresh fruit and vegetables in plastic packaging (decree n° 2021-1318 of October 8, 2021) for ' excess of power.
Shortly after this decision, the Ministry of Ecology announced that a new decree is already being drafted to maintain the ban on plastic packaging for fruit and vegetables that can be sold in bulk, with however, exemptions for the most fragile products.
