The first Digital Mango Day in Central America, supported by the National Mango Board (NMB), was held on 3 February. It was a success due to the richness of its contents and, in particular, to the various topics covered by four leading specialists who delved into the reality of mangoes in the Central American region.
During this event, the excellent quality of mangoes from Guatemala, Nicaragua and Costa Rica was highlighted, with special emphasis on the high level of food safety and security in the region. Likewise, emphasis was placed on the significant growth that Central American mangoes have experienced in recent years, as well as their growing international projection in key markets such as the United States and the European Union.
The importance of the Asian market, especially Japan, for Central American mangoes was also underlined. The efforts of the mango industry in Guatemala to establish an autochthonous quality brand to further boost its presence in the international market were also highlighted.
On the other hand, the role played by the National Mango Board in the growth of mango consumption in the United States was highlighted. The speakers emphasised how the work of this organisation has contributed to positioning mangoes more and more firmly in the tastes of American consumers.
