According to Luis Bonilla of the banana cluster in the Dominican Republic, the export of organic bananas from small and medium growers have suffered a reduction of 25% this year.
This represents a reduction of 4 millions dollars in turnover. According to Bonilla, the cause of this is the first come, first served system that the EU applies.
