In the region of Murcia, broccoli had a 12-fold increase in the surfaces.
In the area, cultivation of broccoli started in the 80s, with 878 hectares. Today, after 33 years, crops occupy 10,781 hectares, an increase of 12.2 times the surface. It is the valley of Guadalentín where it is concentrated the bulk of production (7,516 acres, or 69%).
The broccoli are the vegetables that occupy the second largest area in the region after the salad, according to the Industria Agroalimentaria y Capacitación Agraria.
