Freskon 2025, one of the leading trade events for fresh fruit and vegetables in Southeastern Europe, has officially opened in Thessaloniki, bringing together 275 exhibitors from 22 countries.
During the opening ceremony, Greece’s Minister of Rural Development and Food, Kostas Tsiaras, emphasized the need to rethink the country’s agricultural production model amid ongoing challenges such as climate change and shifting global market dynamics.
Poland, a key participant at this year’s fair, underscored its commitment to food security during its EU Council Presidency, with Deputy Minister of Agriculture Michal Kolodziejczak noting that the apple, a symbol of Poland’s agricultural strength, represents its leadership this semester.
The Region of Central Macedonia is participating with 26 companies, showcasing its position as Greece’s top region for fresh produce and agri-food exports.
Speakers from across the sector — including representatives from Froutonea magazine, O.MIND CREATIVES, and TIF-HELEXPO — highlighted Freskon’s strategic value for the fresh produce industry and its growing role as a regional business hub.
