Brazil is expected to publish sanitary requirements in early May.
Peru and Brazil have agreed to begin the process of opening the Brazilian market to fresh Peruvian potatoes. The only step remaining is the publication of sanitary requirements, expected in May. This agreement would allow Peru to export surplus potatoes to Brazil, helping to stabilize prices for local farmers.
During his visit to Brazil, Peru’s Minister of Agriculture, Ángel Manero, also proposed opening the market to Peruvian strawberries and raspberries, and presented irrigation projects aimed at expanding agricultural production.
Brazil showed interest in using the Port of Chancay as a trade route to Asia. Manero indicated that it is already in operation and suggested that Brazilian companies invest in the port's future special economic zone.
