Given the scale of the COVID-19 pandemic in Spain, it was decided to set up a field hospital in the Madrid exhibition center. This hospital will be the largest hospital in the country, with a capacity of 1,300 beds that can be increased to 5,500 places.
This emergency health center was put into service in record time. Last Friday, the president of the Comunidad de Madrid announced its establishment. And 18 hours after the start of assembly in the exhibition center, the hospital was able to receive its first patients.
The field hospital set up by the Comunidad de Madrid at IFEMA will be able to accommodate 1,300 patients with COVID-19 coronavirus in the modules installed in pavilions 7 and 9 of the exhibition center. This temporary hospital receives patients sent by different hospitals in the Madrid region.
The IFEMA hospital is going to be the largest hospital in Spain with 1,300 beds, although plans are made to reach 5,500 places of hospitalization, if necessary, in both conventional and intensive care.
