Mexico is projecting a new record in avocado exports.
Mexican avocado exports would reach a new record in 2025, with revenues estimated at 4 billion dollars, according to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). This growth would represent an increase of 5.6% over 2024, driven mainly by demand from the U.S. market, which accounts for more than 80% of the volume exported.
In terms of volume, a 5% increase over the previous year is expected, reaching 1.34 million metric tons after the 9% drop recorded in 2024.
In 2024, Mexico exported 1.07 million metric tons to the U.S., a 5% drop compared to 2023. Other relevant markets are Canada (7%) and Japan (3%). Domestically, the country has reduced its imports from 4,200 metric tons in 2024 to 3,800 metric tons in 2025.
The USDA also estimates that domestic production will grow 3%, to 2.75 million metric tons, thanks to favorable growing conditions and greater crop efficiency. The planted area would remain stable, with 256,500 hectares, while land use regulation in Michoacán advances.
