Colombia’s new offshore Antioquia port offers fresh chance to compete
The opening of Puerto Antioquia, a multi-purpose, deepwater terminal located along Colombia’s northern coast is planned by June 2025.
It represents a watershed moment for exports of bananas, avocados, and mangoes out of the country. The upcoming off-shore and state-of-the-art Puerto Antioquia was presented at Fruit Logistica during a panel cession of the Logistics Hub last Friday 7th. The head of the country’s largest banana exporter, Uniban chairman Manuel Laborde Barriga, explained how new offshore port it can reduce footprint and transit times to international markets, and make the country’s fresh produce exports more competitive and more sustainable. Uniban is one of the 10 stakeholders along with Banafrut, CI Tropical, Grupo Santamaria, Eiffage, Astris Finance, Creditcorp Capital, PIO SAS, Termotécnica Coindustrial.

The upcoming off-shore and state-of-the-art Puerto Antioquia is set to open by June 2025. it marks a milestone for Colombian exports, particularly to Europe and the United States. Located in Turbo, in the Urabá region of Colombia, this multi-purpose port will feature state-of-the-art cargo handling facilities and refrigerated storage, ensuring product quality and freshness during transit.
