The price of the artichoke in the field has fallen by half

Farmers Valencia qualifying campaign artichoke as "one of the worst in recent times. Unio-COAG said that the price of the product at home has fallen by almost half in the production areas of the Valencia region during this season respect to the previous one.
This is mainly due, according to the organization from agrarian to competition exerted on the markets of this vegetable imports from other countries.
The campaign began with good prices in November, that have fallen over the months to become a truly grim years for producers. In this season of marketing, producers of artichokes perceived in the field amounts to be placed between 0.50 and 0.60 euros per kilogram when in the past they received around 1 euro per kilo. Unió indicates that these prices farmers barely cover production costs. The organization says that agricultural producers do not understand what is happening to prices because the quality of the vegetable that comes to markets is really excellent. The only problem may be due to increased imports from third countries.
