Apple production collapses

Apple production in the region of Himachal Pradesh is one of the lowest in many years.

The region of Himachal Pradesh is one of the main producing regions of India. Last year the production there reached 44.6 million boxes. However, this year, with one month to go, crop production has reached only 5 million boxes.

By the end of the harvest, the region could produce another 5 million boxes, which would give an output of 10 million boxes for the campaign.

This dramatic decline of production is the result of severe thunderstorms and hail storms that hit the region in spring and summer.
