Australia
Monday 04 April 2005

The Australian Government and the apple and pear industry will become partners in a major project to boost industry profitability, sustainability and competitiveness. The project will receive $440,000 this financial year from the Government's $4.7 million, Pilot Industry Partnerships Program, which is part of the Agriculture - Advancing Australia (AAA) package. The $440,000 will be matched by the apple and pear industry with in-kind and other support. The partnership with the apple and pear industry is the fifth project the Australian Government has commenced under the initiative. The wine, dried fruits, tropical fruits and seafood industries have already signed, and 15 more are planned for this financial year.
