Arequipa and Ica remain Peru’s primary export regions, recording shipments of $4.831 billion (7.1%) and $4.429 billion (14.4%), respectively, according to the September 2023 Monthly Report on Regional Trade by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur).
The report attributes Arequipa's robust growth to mineral sales, while Ica leveraged its diverse range of exports, including agricultural products, securing its spot as the second-largest exporting region. Over the first nine months of the year, Ica witnessed an impressive surge in shipments, with blueberries (71%)
In the same vein, the report notes that in September alone, twelve inland regions - including Arequipa and Ica - increased their exports. Consequently, the value of regional exports in the ninth month reached $4.741 billion (+4.7%), contributing to a cumulative total of $39.181 billion.
