Chilean avocado sector under pressure
Chile

Exports of Chilean avocados are likely to come under increasing pressure from Mexican suppliers.
Currently, around 90 percent of Chile's avocado exports go to The USA, but recent access to the US market for Mexican producers means that Chilean growers are likely to feel price pressure in this market.
As a result, Chile is looking to diversify it export markets, and exports to The EU tripled in 2004.
The Chile Avocado Commission is also looking to increase domestic consumption and has recently undertaken a number of promotional & marketing actions.
