New fruit terminal at French Mediterranean port

The French port of Port-Vendres near Perpignan is to get a new EUR 3.8 million fruit terminal.
The 5000m² facility will have state-of-the-art loading and docking bays that enable to cold chain to be maintained at all times.
Port-Vendres handled 215,000 tonnes of produce in 2004, a 12.7 percent increase on the year before.
The main imports are bananas, pineapples, citrus and potatoes, which are shipped to the wholesale market of St. Charles in Perpignan.
