Maersk has almost doubled its profit

The first company of transport global container, AP Moeller-Maersk announced it had almost doubled profit in the first quarter of 2011 (+85%).

 
In the first quarter of 2011, revenues grew of 10% to $ 14.5 billion (10.6 billion Euros), net income rose of 85% to 5.018 billion dollars, whereas in 2009, loss recorded was 1 billion dollars.

 
The volume for containers rose 5% to 3.68 MEVP, an increase of 5%. Coastal activities, oil and gas also recorded profits for the 1st quarter 2011. The group's president, Mr Nils S. Andersen, said: "Our company has successfully met the challenge of the economic situation. For six months, we have invested in many areas, ships, terminals, platforms.
