Maersk has almost doubled its profit

The first company of transport global container, AP Moeller-Maersk announced it had almost doubled profit in the first quarter of 2011 (+85%).
In the first quarter of 2011, revenues grew of 10% to $ 14.5 billion (10.6 billion Euros), net income rose of 85% to 5.018 billion dollars, whereas in 2009, loss recorded was 1 billion dollars.
The volume for containers rose 5% to 3.68 MEVP, an increase of 5%. Coastal activities, oil and gas also recorded profits for the 1st quarter 2011. The group's president, Mr Nils S. Andersen, said: "Our company has successfully met the challenge of the economic situation. For six months, we have invested in many areas, ships, terminals, platforms. This allows us to be confident for future. "
