Peru’s lime export volumes rise as prices dip

Exports are led by two varieties: the limón tahití and the limón sutil.
Strong international demand pushed Peru’s fresh lime exports to 1,669 containers by the end of week 26 (June 29, 2025), reflecting a 31% year-on-year increase.
Weekly volumes peaked early in the year at 150 containers, before falling to around 50 in recent weeks. Despite higher volumes, prices stayed below 2024 levels through week 21.
The United States remains Peru’s top buyer, receiving 596 containers at an average price of USD 0.98 per kilo, though shipments have declined steadily since week 19.
Exports are led by two varieties: the limón tahití, preferred in global markets for its size, seedlessness, and high juice content; and the limón sutil, which remains a domestic staple.
