Fruit Attraction is the ideal showcase to make Costa Rican bananas better known and promoted, according to CORBANA (Corporación Bananera Nacional de Costa Rica) which has its own space within the official Costa Rican stand installed 6D08.
Jorge Sauma, General Manager of CORBANA (Corporación Bananera Nacional de Costa Rica), the private-public entity that acts as the official promoter and regulator of the product, had stressed before the show that Fruit Attraction is the ideal showcase to raise awareness and promote the Costa Rican banana in the professional world of export, distribution and consumption in Europe.
The Costa Rican banana is a quality fruit but also a competitive product that prioritizes the commitment to the environment and the well-being of local communities and people. For almost 30 years, CORBANA has worked towards sustainability throughout the banana value chain, a criterion that is highly demanded today by consumers.
Costa Rica is one of the 3 most important banana exporting countries in the world. In 2021, the country exported some 129 million cases of bananas (about 18.14 kilos each), or about 2.3 million tons. Costa Rica's main markets are the United States (approximately 34% of the volume exported) and above all Europe (approximately 61%), with the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Portugal and Finland.
