According to the committee responsible for determining the ripeness of citrus fruit for authorization to cut and export, the Okitsu variety of mandarin could be exported as from the 4th of October. This is exactly the same dates as last season.
By October 2016 there had been a slight increase in exports of this variety and half of the total exports of about 86,000 tonnes had been sent to Russia.
This season, producers and exporters are hopeful that Russia will increase its exports due to the favorable atmosphere now prevailing between Turkey and Russia.
The varieties of Satsuma and Marisol should be cleared from mid-October.
