Decrease of Kiwi exports in the southern hemisphere
MD
Exports of kiwifruit from the southern hemisphere are in decline according to a study made in Chile.
The Chilean consulting firm iQonsulting gave its first estimate of the season: the 2010's exports of kiwifruit from the southern hemisphere reached 514,700 tons, which represent 3.3% less than the previous season, due to the reduction of about 10% of the volume of New Zealand and due to bad weather and effects of the disease.
The New Zealand has provided about 314,000 tons and about 200,700 tons in Chile.
In Chile, the first harvests begin at the end of February with the variety Summerkiwi and at the end of March In New Zealand, with ZespriGold.
