The best diplomatic relations between Turkey and Russia have a positive effect on exports of Turkish fruits and vegetables. This month's figures show that imports of oranges rose by 27 per cent compared to 2015 for the same period, while imports of oranges rose more than 90,000 tons, with a 41 per cent increase.
Ahmet Hamdi Gürdoğan, a member of the Board of Directors of Exporters' Unions for the Fruit and Vegetable Sector at national level, states that Russia is the largest export market for Turkish fruit and vegetables and will always be of importance Preponderant for the export sector of fresh produce.
The Russian embargo on Turkish products is being phased out. Eggplants, peppers, pomegranates, courgettes and salads are now on the list of authorized products. But the eyes remain on Moscow for the remaining products, as in early December a meeting between the authorities of the two countries should be held to discuss these problems.
