The stagnation marked the tangerine campaign in Spain

The tangerines from la Ribera del Xuquer in area of Valencia was strongly afflicted by sudden changes in climate.

 

At start of the season forecasts predicted total volume of harvested tangerines at the level of 40,000 tons and now after climatic problems that touched kaki final estimations said that it was collected only 20,000 tons.

 

The region of Ribera suffered as soon as in spring 2008 the frosts that caused lack of fruits. The summer was also rainy what influenced negatively the tangerines. The humidity and higher temperatures precipitate the growth of mould and fungi.
