According to the Aegean Exporters Association, the season will begin on August 3rd, a week earlier than in 2015. The fresh grape production center in Turkey is located in the Aegean region, between Alasehir, Sarigöl and Buldan .
Riza Seyyar, Chairman of the Aegean Exporters Association of Fruit and Vegetable Division, said that 186,000 tons of this variety were exported in 2014, 131 000 tonnes in 2015 and in 2016, a figure of export 150-160 000 tonnes planned.
In 2015, 69 percent of the export was realized in Russia. The second importing country was Germany and the third largest importer country Saudi Arabia. The Sultani grapes were exported to 46 different countries.
He further adds that exporters are waiting with hope the results of the interview with the Turkish President and Vladimir Putin on August 9. If the problem with Russia is not resolved, the grapes can not be eaten fresh or in foreign markets or the domestic market and must be dried, which does not allow producers to cover their production costs .
